Peace has become very popular.
The symbols of peace are commonly found in fashion, art, and almost every jr. high girl’s facebook/myspace profile picture.
We hear about peace in the media, beauty pageants, and from each other. Many speak against the war and wish for world peace.
Bringing peace to the entire world is a difficult task for one person to take on, but peace was already brought to the world through Jesus, the prince of peace.
Peace is often viewed as the absence of war and violence. Jesus spoke of a different kind of peace. “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27). Jesus didn’t promise there wouldn’t be any more wars, violence, or pain- but He offers us peace on the inside.
Even in the midst of conflict we can have peace in Jesus. “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). He is greater than our circumstances!
I realize that I don’t always accept the peace Jesus offers me. If I have Jesus’ peace in my heart and mind, then peace should be seen and heard in my actions and words.
Do you have peace?
